The Ramayana retelling “Adipurush,” starring Prabhas, is anticipating a strong opening weekend at the box office. Industry insiders compare the movie’s pre-release excitement to that of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan,” which also stars Prabhas.

This Friday, the high-profile, multilingual picture with a reported budget of Rs 500 crore will be released in 3D everywhere.

The advance booking for the Om Raut-directed movie began on Sunday, and according to cinema owners, the reaction has exceeded their expectations. Along with Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon, “Adipurush” also stars Sunny Singh, Devdatta Nage, and Sunny Singh.

PVR INOX Limited co-CEO Gautam Dutta reported that “over 3 lakh bookings for the first weekend” have already been made.

Prabhas, the star of “Baahubali,” and the movie’s relevance, according to Dutta, give it “a rare advantage” and “strong legs to move.”

It’s going to be among the most popular flicks this quarter. Telugu and Hindi would be the two main languages in this movie, with other languages following after. Prabhas is a very well-liked celebrity in the south, and that, along with the entire north belt, should give the movie a huge start, according to Dutta, who spoke to PTI

A seasoned professional in the field estimates that they will make “close to Rs 80-85 crore” on the first day alone. He claimed that, similar to “Pathaan,” “Adipurush” had received a warm reception.

“So, if we add up Friday, Saturday, and Sunday over the weekend, we are easily looking at above Rs 200 crore… “Pathaan” received the same praise and acclaim as “Adipurush.” At that time, a lot of people were looking forward to a Shah Rukh Khan movie. You’ll notice that despite the topicality of the two films, Pathaan and Adipurush, the hype, market noise, or expectations are basically the same, he added.

The advance booking of “Adipurush” is similar to that of “Pathaan,” according to exhibitor and distributor Sunny Chandiramani, who manages 25 screens in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

“Advance booking is fantastic; it is comparable to that of any major motion picture, as it was in the case of ‘Pathaan’.

According to Chandiramani, the film should gross about Rs 80–100 crore on its first day in Hindi and over Rs 25 crore worldwide.Ajay Bagdai, a distributor from the Rajkot area of Gujarat, forecast that the movie will gross “Rs 200 crore” over the weekend.

While the buzz surrounding “Adipurush” is similar to that surrounding “Pathaan,” according to Dutta, it has an advantage because of its topic and will draw viewers of all ages.

In addition, he claimed, “institutions, NGOs, schools, and political parties” are making large reservations for the movie.
